The Inaugural Trust Path & Reputation Summit Unveiled at United Nations Headquarters with Key Global Leaders
New York, USA – September 21, 2024: The Centre for Global Studies (CGS), an initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), successfully hosted the inaugural Trust Path & Reputation Summit (TPRS) today. The event, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, was a key side event to the UN Summit of the Future. It was organised in partnership with the UN Security Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UN in New York, and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN. The Summit, themed “Parliamentary Support in Re-Establishing Trust and Reputation in Multilateral Governance”, aimed to address the urgent need for greater cooperation among parliaments and governments worldwide. Its primary focus was the restoration of trust and reputation in global governance systems. This dialogue aligns with the strategic goals of the broader UN Summit of the Future, which seeks to enhance the multilateral system and deliver on commitments for a better world.
The event was graced by a host of distinguished global leaders and diplomats who lent their expertise to the discussion. Among those in attendance were H.E. Hon. Enaam Mayara, PAM President and President of the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco; H.E. Amb. Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly; H.E. Amb. Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN; H.E. Amb.
Gianluca Greco, Deputy Permanent Representative of Italy to the UN; Ms. Natalia Gherman, Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED); Hon.
Deborah Bergamini (Italy), PAM Rapporteur on Political Affairs; and H.E. Hon. Mohamed Abou El Enein, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament and PAM President Emeritus. These figures, alongside others from the global stage, provided critical insight into the importance of restoring trust in international governance.
The CGS has long been at the forefront of efforts to assess and strengthen trust and reputation for both public and private sectors on a global scale. As a premier research institution, CGS is recognised for its rigorous standards in evaluating trustworthiness and reputation, serving as a trusted reference for countries, corporations, and organisations seeking to navigate today’s complex global landscape.
During the session, H.E. Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, Chairman of the Centre for Global Studies, delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests for their invaluable contributions. In his address, Amb. AlMadani formally announced the launch of the Trust Path & Reputation Summit (TPRS), reinforcing its theme of “Parliamentary Support in Re-Establishing Trust and Reputation in Multilateral Governance.”
The Summit underscores the critical role of transparency, trust-building, and reputation enhancement in creating a more sustainable and cooperative future. The TPRS will focus on three pivotal areas: Media, Politics, and Economy, providing a platform for thought leadership and practical strategies aimed at fostering good governance, developing policies with meaningful impact, and supporting legislative advancements.
Restoring Trust and Building Transparency
The Trust Path & Reputation Summit aims to serve as a beacon of trust, facilitating communication and cooperation between institutions and communities globally. Through open dialogues and platforms that prioritise access to accurate and reliable information, the Summit will elevate the quality of conversations around governance, ethics, and public transparency.
The initiative will also provide participants with opportunities to engage with key stakeholders, form strategic partnerships, and explore innovative solutions that promote transparency, financial accountability, and ethical leadership. This focus on global cooperation, cybersecurity, and adherence to international standards will serve as a blueprint for fostering integrity and trust within communities.
In addition to addressing the need for improved governance, the Summit will focus on critical global issues such as economic stability, environmental sustainability, and technological innovation. By fostering greater institutional transparency and adhering to best practices, the Summit will present tangible solutions to today’s most pressing challenges. The conclusion of the Summit will be marked by a Global Declaration on Trust and Transparency, a document outlining clear commitments to restoring credibility in institutions and empowering global communities through ethical and sustainable practices.
The Path Forward
H.E. Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, in his remarks, stated, “The launch of the Trust Path & Reputation Summit is a sincere call to action.
